This portfolio of fabulous surrealist drawings done by Scott Marr is featured on the Behance Network this morning. I’m not sure if he offers prints of his work but it’s certainly worth looking into. Simply amazing.

Above is a very sweet little design I did for a new food blog, Kitchen La Bohème. Kitchen La Bohème focuses on pure vegetarian (vegan) culinary secrets, new recipes and menus, as well as new products and worthwhile restaurants discovered in NYC and beyond. The blog will feature lots of great food photography and graphic design in addition to recipes, tips and stories.

The Sweeties photo shoot went wonderfully. Special thanks to photographer Nathan Sayers! Above is the promo ad to announce Sweeties’ launch at the Greenpoint Food Market on May 22. As part of the campaign, I’ve also designed a blog where you can follow along through the launch date and beyond to see what’s happening with the brand, and a Facebook fan page where you can interact with other fans and participate in a Guess the Secret discussion to win a complimentary mini Sweetie at the launch event. A full web site is currently under construction and won’t be revealed until after the Food Market launch, so you’ll have to be patient for that…

This coming Tuesday I’ll be shooting for the Sweeties New York Pastry Co. project with photographer Nathan Sayers, whom I’ve shot with plenty of times while working as the Associate Art Director for Dance Spirit magazine over the years. We’ll be working in his studio on product shots for the web site as well as for an advertising campaign I’ve developed. Chat Plates from the MoMA Store are involved, but that’s all I can say for now…

Above is some of the initial branding work for a new project: a wholesale homestyle vegan bakery. You can see  a sneak peak at the logo and identity set I’ve developed and designed for the brand, playing off the feel of a recipe card. A marketing/advertising campaign, as well as packaging and a web site, are currently in the beginning stages of being developed with an expected launch date of May 22.

I just came across this amazing set of kaleidoscopes with patterns made from type. According to the artist, Katerna Orlikova, the idea was based off of the topic, “Light and Typography.” You can read more about the project and see more images here.

This series of billboards created by Joni Kukkohovi for the Cancer Society of Finland blew me away. Each one was crafted using actual cigarettes. The fabulous campaign earned Joni and his creative team plenty of awards, including Cannes Lions, Eurobest, Cresta and Epica.

Another item for typophiles, like myself: “A connoisseur’s overview of typeface design, exploring the most elegant fonts from the history of publishing.”

5. I Am Not A Paper Cup
Simple and useful, a wonderful alternative to disposable beverage cups.

6. Come In/Go Away Doormat
Brilliant typeplay allows this single mat to either welcome or cast away visitors.

7. Rapidograph Pens
For the old-school designer and everyone who values the perfect pen for precise drawing. A new set has been on my Want list for some time now!

8. Sweet Treats — A Typographical Cookbook
So I think you get that I love typography. I just can’t get enough. Also? I love to bake. And I know there are plenty of you out there who are just like me. This cookbook satisfies these two great loves in one elegant package.

9. Tweetbottle
Another great way to cut back on disposable cups and bottles! And this one is geared specifically toward those of us who are not only environmentally concerned, but who are also addicted to Twitter.

10. PS Magnet Kit
Need I say more? These are soon to be all over my refrigerator.

What is Letterheady, you might ask? A blog that showcases nothing but letterhead designs from various time periods, of course!

Seems like everyone is throwing ridiculous stuff up on a Tumblr these days in an effort to get laughs and, I guess, famous—if you call getting a book deal for your ridiculous stuff “famous”.

The most recent Tumblr bog to grab my attention is Babies with Laser Eyes. Why? Because as a matter of fact I happen to love ridiculous-looking babies, especially if they’re making that “I’m not just scared, I’m shaken to the very core and am about to cry ” look. Also, I like lasers. Put them together. What’s not to like?
